Verdant, a 21-story residential development in Perth, features energy-efficient design with a unique 6-story green wall on the external façade and a 3-story green wall in the foyer. These vertical gardens offer numerous benefits, including temperature reduction, noise absorption, pollution filtration, and biodiversity enhancement. Developed by Deep Green Landscaping, the internal green wall incorporates a modular system with recycled plastic, moisture sensors, and a drip irrigation system.

Water and nutrient management are crucial, particularly in Western Australia’s harsh climate. Adjustments to irrigation systems were made for optimal performance, considering factors like air-conditioning exposure and shade variations. Diversity in plant species improves resilience against pests and diseases. Challenges such as salt buildup and maintenance considerations were addressed through soil moisture sensors and scheduled care. The green walls contribute to improved amenity, cooling, and occupants’ connection to nature, enhancing the property’s appeal and promoting human health and well-being. The efficient design and management of these green walls highlight their significance in sustainable urban development.
