Overview
Perth’s first living green wall was installed at the Northbridge Piazza when the area was upgraded in 2009. Then Lord Mayor Peter Nattrass said ‘the green wall will soften the surrounding built environment and be an intriguing point of interest for people spending time in the piazza as well as passers-by’. This native plant vertical garden spans two structures in the centre of Northbridge, bringing nature into a much used public space.
Deliverables
- Soften the area
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Trial / model green wall which would create further industry learning
Maintenance
The greenwall is serviced on a fortnightly basis by a specialist greenwall contractor. These works include irrigation testing and repair, monitoring and reporting on soil moisture and nutrient levels, and the removal of weeds and spent foliage up the first two meters of the wall.
