Riverhaven Estate, managed by Primewest, embraces its natural surroundings beside the Canning River. It replaces an equestrian facility, revamping stormwater management. The plan involves redirecting drainage away from the river, enhancing water quality. To gain approval, the developer navigated stringent regulations due to the site’s sensitivity and public ownership.
The stormwater management strategy for the Estate was required to incorporate urban water best practice throughout, including the use of bio-filtration swales and the use of native vegetation and soil amendments in drainage basins to encourage at-source infiltration of stormwater and water quality treatment.
The Estate exemplifies how integrating water cycle management from the start yields significant ecological improvements. By relocating drainage basins to the foreshore, it enhances ecological value, prevents stormwater pollution, and provides recreational spaces. Riverhaven Estate showcases the success of proactive, partnership-driven development, offering residents both a sustainable environment and recreational opportunities along the river.
