As water sensitive urban design professionals, we recognise the importance of site context and landscape to the design, delivery and maintenance of WSUD solutions. This tour is a collaboration between New WAter Ways and Nyungar Tours, and we are privileged to have Nyungar Traditional Owner, Kerry-Anne Winmar share some Nyungar stories to better connect us to Country to support our interactions with the land and waters around Boorloo (Perth).
The first tour will explore some special places between Leederville and Fremantle, north of the Derbyl Yerrigan (Swan River), while the second tour will connect us with places on the southern side. We acknowledge that the land on which these tours will take place was and always will be Nyungar land.
And if you would like to do some pre-learning, Kerry-Anne has produced a short documentary – Nyungar Wanginj Nidja Bilya: River Stories – which is available for a small fee on her website here. We would encourage you to have a listen and watch before the tour if you would like.
