Water Sensitive Urban Design, an Introduction

MP2

An introduction to the main objectives of Urban Water Management through Water Sensitive Urban Design.

Design Scale:

This factsheet outlines the objectives of implementing Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) including catchment management, risk mitigation, efficient water usage and recognition of social, economic and cultural values.

Primarily, WSUD tackles the challenge of stormwater management and catchment maintenance. The use of structural and non-structural WSUD practices are described within the document, considering the design scale of each strategy.

WSUD practices are detailed within the Better Urban Water Management, which aligns with the National Strategies and Guidelines for water quality management.
