This is Session #7 of the ‘Stormwater Fundamental’ series in 2024, focussing on bioretention systems. Bioretention systems (also called biofiltration, biofilters, bioretention basins, bioswales and raingardens) are one of the most commonly used stormwater treatment asset given their flexible design, space efficiency and applicability at a variety of scales. In this session, we will provide an overview of: – How bioretention works – Key components of bioretention – Review of performance monitoring studies – Common operational problems – Key considerations in their appropriate design and management This 45-minute session will include a presentation from Ocean Protect’s Brad Dalrymple, followed by Q&A with attendees.
