A Better Way to Build? WA’s Machinery of Government reforms in action
As a key partner in increasing WA’s housing supply, the development industry relies on collaborative and effective engagement with a number of State government agencies.
Machinery of Government changes announced in March 2025 by Premier Roger Cook aimed at supporting ‘a more resilient economy and a better way to build’, will start to take effect by 1 July 2025, with full implementation by 1 January 2026. Major changes relevant to the property industry include the establishment of a Department of Housing & Works and a new look Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure. This is in addition to the transition of Keystart to a Government Trading Enterprise from 1 July 2025, providing industry with unprecedented partnership opportunities for built form projects.
