Stormwater Queensland in conjunction with the International Water Centre-Griffith Webinar offers a webinar:
“Using adaptive leadership to successfully drive change to promote integrated water management.”
Members from Stormwater Australia and other Stormwater State Associations welcome to attend
Leadership is all about exerting influence and driving change. As such, we need leadership to promote integrated water management in our projects, organisations and institutions. As water challenges become complex, we also need to recognise that particular forms of leadership are effective, and other forms are not. In particular, water practitioners need to accurately diagnose when water challenges are ‘complex’ (in contrast to ‘technical’, ‘chaotic’ or ‘clear’ challenges), and have the ability to use the adaptive leadership style. This style of leadership is radically different from traditional, 20th-century notions of top-down, directive leadership and forms of leadership that are necessary to address complicated technical problems. It could be argued that one of the most significant impediments to our collective efforts to advance integrated water management, water sensitive urban design and water sensitive cities is the lack of the appropriate leadership capacity to do so. In this webinar we will explore how water practitioners (leaders) can recognise when adaptive leadership is needed to address complex challenges associated with integrated water management, and how to do it successfully.
