Site Tour Two – Woodman Point WRRF and Hazer Hydrogen Demonstration Plant
Water Corporation’s Woodman Point Resource Recovery Facility is Perth’s largest, treating up to 180 megalitres per day through an advanced activated sludge process. The facility is also currently undergoing an upgrade to include thermal hydrolysis as part of the sludge processing systems to expand capacity and produce valuable biosolids for agricultural use. This upgrade will also maximise the facility’s energy selfsufficiency and contribute to our carbon net zero target. Co-located on the same site is Hazer Group’s Commercial Demonstration Plant. Hazar is using technology which can convert methane feedstocks, through the use of an iron ore process catalyst, into hydrogen and synthetic graphite. Biogas produced at the water resource recovery facility will be used as feedstock for the demonstration plant. It is estimated that the plant can utilise around two million standard cubic metres of biogas.
Participants will be able to see key assets and processes from a bus tour.
