As planners we have extraordinary power to shape the stories of place. Whose stories are told? What are we ‘celebrating’ about a place, its history and its ‘significance? What is hidden, unspoken? Storytelling is central to good Country-centred design and planning. In this Allies Yarn we explore the opportunities and risks of storytelling and truth telling as demonstrated in the award winning Boorloo Bridge Project in Perth (Boorloo). Claire Paddison from 361 Degrees Engagement will join our Yarn to talk about the project. Inter-disciplinary artist Megan Evans will share her wealth of experience as a multi-award winning, leader in using creative practice to decolonise the stories of place. Megan is renown for her powerful approach to storytelling, her authenticity and willingness to confront difficult truths.
