Details

Urban mobility is about creating safe, attractive and inclusive places that encourage people to walk, wheel and ride. This interactive three-hour workshop combines presentations, hands-on design activities and a site visit to explore the practical application of Safe Active Streets (SAS).

Participants will first be introduced to the principles, evidence and outcomes of Safe Active Streets, including lessons from Western Australia’s pilot program. Working in teams, delegates will then undertake a mini-modelling exercise before progressing to a larger design challenge, where they will develop a Safe Active Street using real-world constraints and opportunities. Designs will be tested using remote-controlled vehicle modelling to assess traffic flow, functionality and user experience.
