Integrating Sport and Recreation into Public Health Plans Workshops

The new Public Health Act requires each local government to prepare a local public health plan that applies to its local government district. This legislation provides an opportunity for local governments to highlight the role they play in promoting and delivering health activities, infrastructure and services. To support the Act the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) recently released a resource titled Sport and Recreation and Public Health: A resource for community sector professionals working in local government (2016). To aid local government to Integrate Sport and Recreation into Public Health Plans, PLAWA and DSR will conduct a series of metro and regional workshops.
