Overview
Originally to be part of Ozwater’20, this is the very question posed by the AWA Catchment Management Specialist Network in the upcoming digital debate and workshop on ‘Protecting our Drinking Water Supply Catchments: Are we Doing Enough Under Changing Political and Hydrological Conditions?’
Our speakers will explore and discuss whether we are doing enough given the apparent ever-increasing pressures on the integrity of our catchments. They’ll look at the traditional values and aspirations for our catchments, recent trends, issues and barriers, current management practices and their advantages and limitations.
Based on the outcome of the event, AWA’s Catchment Management Specialist Network will develop a national statement and principles for source water protection.
Pre-Reading Material: Source Water Statement
The statement provides 10 principles for source water protection and seeks to set a future direction for preventative risk management and while providing resilience to the entire water supply system. Please download a copy here and have a quick read prior to attending the event.
