Using real world examples and feedback from decision makers after years of coastal planning implementation, this training session considers the broader coastal planning framework, with the aim of clarifying:

  • why we undertake coastal planning;
  • what type of coastal planning fits your needs;
  • how it might be undertaken;
  • when in the continuum of coastal planning you might develop certain plans including CHRMAP; and
  • what ensures that the planning results in delivery/implementation.

The session is suitable for all coastal managers who will be managing impacts and costs over long-time frames, no matter their technical discipline. The session will be delivered by Anna Kelderman (Shape Urban) and include a panel discussion with principal planners from DPLH and senior local government planners. Attendance in-person is strongly encouraged with lunch provided. An online option will be provided for regional attendees.
