Webinar – Storylines of the Pilbara: Applying a storylines approach

In partnership with Western Australia’s Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and the Water Corporation of Western Australia, Climate Systems Hub scientists applied a storylines approach to the western Pilbara to explore future water availability for the catchment.

This webinar will discuss how the approach was applied to climate projections in water management. Those involved in this case study will talk about their learnings, as well as the benefits and limitations of applying this evolving approach. This approach has also been applied through DWER’s Guide to future climate projections for water resource management in Western Australia.

The storyline approach uses narratives to explore the implications of climate change on particular decisions. Storylines can help distill the overwhelming amount of information available into a few compelling narratives. This can motivate action and decisions by relating plausible changes in climate to real-world experiences.
