AWP is firmly committed in advancing the integration of GEDSI in water policies and programs leading to more equitable and sustainable water outcomes.
As part of its ongoing GEDSI program of work, AWP has developed tools and resources for partners and the broader development community. These tools and resources will be shared through a two-part webinar series to give participants strategies and best practices for integrating GEDSI into water policies and programs.
We will learn from water experts and practitioners about the transformative impact of inclusive approaches. We will explore GEDSI case studies covering both challenges and opportunities. We will look at how to create a GEDSI action plan. Join us:

Webinar 2: GEDSI guidance and case studies
A GEDSI continuum will be shared through the webinar as a tool to be incorporated while designing and implementing activities. Practical steps to apply the continuum to reach, include and empower people experiencing marginalisation, while checking we are doing no harm will be shared.
The webinar will also share practical examples of the application AWP’s GEDSI Policy guidance launching three case studies.
Speakers will share an example of a GEDSI context analysis undertaken as a part of a reservoir water quality improvement project in Thailand. In this case a GEDSI technical expert provided specialist advice and training, aiding partner skill development to deliver the activity.
Other case studies include an example of incorporating GEDSI in the design phase of a project resulting in consistent attention of GEDSI considerations and monitoring of planned activities. Speakers will share their experiences in stakeholder and community engagement aimed at including diverse perspectives to strengthen flash flood early warning systems in the Pacific Islands.
Additionally, presenters will provide insights into applying a GEDSI lens to improve climate, inequality and water resources data in Papua New Guinea’s national monitoring system. They will elaborate on their methods for providing training and capacity building to government and rights-holder organizations, as well as their efforts to foster inclusion and participation of marginalised groups in WASH, WRM, and climate change initiatives.
The webinar will provide valuable lessons while highlighting benefits and impact of the GEDSI activities.
