SUMMARY:World Water Day
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear: water for all by 2030. By definition\, this means leaving no one behind. But today\, billions of people are still living without safe water – their households\, schools\, workplaces\, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive. \nMarginalized groups – women\, children\, refugees\, indigenous peoples\, disabled people and many others – are often overlooked\, and sometimes face discrimination\, as they try to access and manage the safe water they need.

SUMMARY:World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
DESCRIPTION:Desertification is the degradation of land in arid\, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas. It is caused primarily by human activities and climatic variations. Desertification does not refer to the expansion of existing deserts. It occurs because dryland ecosystems\, which cover over one third of the world‘s land area\, are extremely vulnerable to overexploitation and inappropriate land use. Poverty\, political instability\, deforestation\, overgrazing and bad irrigation practices can all undermine the productivity of the land. \nRead More here

SUMMARY:Earth Day
DESCRIPTION:Mother Earth is a common expression for the planet earth in a number of countries and regions\, which reflects the interdependence that exists among human beings\, other living species and the planet we all inhabit. \nThe Earth and its ecosystems are our home. In order to achieve a just balance among the economic\, social\, and environmental needs of present and future generations\, it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the Earth. \nInternational Mother Earth Day is celebrated to remind each of us that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and sustenance. \nThis Day also recognizes a collective responsibility\, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration\, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth to achieve a just balance among the economic\, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity. \nInternational Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise public awareness around the world to the challenges regarding the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports.
