Water Sensitive Cities International Study Tour 2012
The ‘Water Sensitive Cities International Study Tour’ is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals who would like to develop their leadership skills, learn about water sensitive cities, and see what change looks like on the ground while developing strong networks nationally and globally.
The tour will include travelling across Australia to another Australian City to review innovative approaches to water, travelling to other countries to further seek examples of innovation and sustainable Cities, reporting back and engaging with decision makers to progress ideas, and reporting to the WSUD12 conference in February 2012 on ideas and successes within Australia.
The
tour will provide many benefits including personal development,
exposure to some of the best thinking in urban water management,
ability to manage teams, engagement with key influencers within
Australia, and the opportunity to go through an experimental
learning approach. Essentially the tour is a challenging and unique
experience which aims at ultimately building a network of future
leaders in the world of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD).
The 2012 international study tour is the third tour of its kind. In previous years participants travelled to North America during 2005 and to Europe in 2009.
If you’re a young leader who is passionate about water, cities and making a difference, then the Water Sensitive Cities international study tour is for you. The tour encourages people from all types of professional backgrounds to apply. Fundamentally the tour is interdisciplinary with applicants such as engineers, scientists, landscape architects, social scientists, environmental lobbyists, and policy advisors being selected. Other professionals such as urban planners, film makers, economists, designers, ecologists and chemists are encouraged to apply. A few small groups will be selected from cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
